This is so beautiful in the true, raw, infinite sense of the word.

My deepest sympathy for what you are going through.

At the risk of being rude and simply making myself feel better with my comment, have you looked into hyperthermia immunotherapy? Basically forces everything to produce heat shock proteins, which also forces cancer cells to either die or turn back on the things that would give it away to the immune system. It's used in conjunction with things that prime the immune system to look for problems, and probes can be used to heat areas deeper inside the body that are harder to reach. It is an FDA approved treatment. This needs to be done under supervision, because it can kill too much cancer at once, causing toxic shock.

With as weak as he is now, it'd be risky, but it's absolutely the hail mary I'd go for in this situation, for one last try.

Gold *plated* data cables are absolutely a thing. (Please stay with me. Uncharicteristically, this is not as much of a tangent as it sounds like.)

Mostly, gold plated cables/connectors prevent corrosion and promote a reliable connection. I had been hoping that the benefits were due to the "skin effect" (which is *totally* a thing in electronics, and would have made a wonderful metaphor, given the circumstances) but ChatGPT tells me that benefits from the skin effect would be theoretically real, but not particularly significant in lower-frequency data transmission.

On the other hand, pure gold cables would lower Resistance compared to other materials. And that metaphor seems to work here.

I should have paid closer attention in my inorganic chemistry course in college! Maybe I'll find a way to edit in the "skin effect," thats a good one ;)
